Security guard escapes death after being attacked by gunman

A security guard stationed at Kingston Wharves escaped death Tuesday morning when he was attacked by a gunman while on his way to work.

The incident took place shortly after 5 o'clock in the vicinity of the exit on the Portmore Toll Road.

It is reported that the 51 year old guard disembarked a bus and was walking when he saw a man coming from bushes towards him.

He reported that the man had a firearm in one hand and was in the process of pointing it at him.

The guard pulled his licensed firearm and opened fire in the direction of the gunman.

The gunman escaped.

A probe is being carried out by the St. Andrew South Police.
